Dickies Arena will be a 14,000 seat, spectacular multipurpose venue located adjacent to the Will Rogers Memorial Center campus in Fort Worth, Texas. The arena will be owned by the City of Fort Worth and managed by the not-for-profit operating entity, Trail Drive Management Corp (TDMC). The state-of-the-art arena, scheduled to open in November 2019, will host concerts, sporting events and family entertainment, and will be the new home to Fort Worth Stock Show rodeo performances.

Job Description :
The Head Electrician has supervisory responsibility of all the electrical systems in the Dickies Arena, parking garages and associated parking lots. They would assist the Chief Engineer in providing a well maintained and well-organized facility, by inspecting, testing, repairing and maintaining the Arena and associated parking facilities electrical equipment which includes, but is not limited to the sub-station electrical equipment, Main switchgear equipment, distribution and circuit panel boards, transformers, lighting control equipment, sports lighting equipment, emergency generator, emergency ATS’s, including inspections and testing, to ensure continuous proper operation of this equipment. This position would be a “working” supervisor of the part time electrician staff and would also include all electrical contractors and electrical vendors. This position would coordinate, prioritize and assign all Electrical related work requests and Electrical equipment PM’s to the Electrician staff, along with performing work requests and equipment PM’s as time allows. This position would be responsible for learning, maintaining and repairing the Creston Lighting Control Systems.  They would insure that all electrical repairs, maintenance work and Event/Show power hookups performed by the Electrician staff would be in compliance with all codes and criteria, and that this work would be performed in a professional manner with technical competence.
Essential Job Functions- Include, but are not limited to the following:
  • The primary duty of the Head Electrician is to install and maintain Event/Show Power distribution equipment, plus maintain, troubleshoot, repair, replace and/or upgrade various Electrical equipment/systems throughout the Arena and adjacent parking facilities, to ensure the smooth daily operation and the satisfaction of our client/guests attending the Dickies Arena under the direction of the Chief Engineer.
  • Complete responsibility for all Electrical Systems of the Dickies Arena venue, which includes the arena, arena exhibit hall, parking garages and parking lots
  • This position will supervise and manage the Electrician staff on all electrical systems maintenance, minor repairs, major repairs and troubleshooting complex problems, utilizing all available resources.
  • Must be able to issue written and oral instructions to the Electrician Staff, directing work procedures, preparing work schedules to align with daily tasks and event needs, expediting workflow, ensuring productivity, assessing performance and resolving problems. Examines work performed by the Electrician staff for exactness, neatness and conformance to proper procedures and applicable building codes.
  • Assist with Electrician Staff’s Annual performance reviews and have the ability to teach, coach and discipline them when warranted.
  • Installs, repairs and maintains Event/Show power for all electrical distribution needs of the Arena’s events, including running event power distribution in the Flexible Event Spaces, Concourses, Exhibit Hall events and to various Tour Busses. Event/Shows would include, but are not limited to, Ft. Worth Stock Show Rodeo, Concerts, Basketball & Hockey Games, Gymnastics and Family shows. Responsible for striking and storing all event/show power equipment & cabling at the end of each event.
  • Must have verifiable experience in the operation, repairing and preventative maintenance of various commercial electrical equipment that includes, switchgear systems, distribution and circuit breaker panels, Company Switches, Event/Show power equipment & cabling and other associated electrical equipment.
  • Must have electrical maintenance skills and/or mechanical abilities that can easily perform repairs and maintenance requests on electrical systems, arena bowl electrically powered telescopic seating systems, interior & exterior building lighting systems, and other various electrical related systems and equipment.
  • Must be willing and able to work on electrical equipment in confined spaces and in “high” areas of the buildings utilizing High Lift equipment, scaffolding, swing stages, ladders, etc., using the appropriate fall protection gear. These high areas could include, but are not limited to, the roof area, ceilings up to 65’ high and cat walks suspended 150’ from the arena floor.
  • Coordinate, assign and/or assist with the required monthly, quarterly and annual inspection and testing of all emergency lighting systems, the emergency backup generators and ATS operation.
  • Coordinate, assign and/or assist in properly maintaining and inventorying all electrical maintenance equipment, tools and supplies in a professional manner, and making sure all the electrical work areas are kept clean and organized, to promote a safe working environment 
  • Assist with monitoring and/or directing the work of third-party contractors on all electrical related repairs and projects. Ensure contractors adhere to building policies and safety standards, as well as, follow the guidelines of the contract/proposal for the specific project/work.
  • Ensure adherence of the Electrician staff to OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70 and other safety codes, as well as, compliance and adherence to hazardous materials standards and codes with the goal of ensuring a consistently safe working environment.
  • Willing to work in outdoor elements, during all months of the year, on electrical & facility related items, including but not limited to, exterior lighting & electrical repairs, street light poles, along with snow & ice removal as required by the Engineering department.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 75lbs of supplies, materials, equipment, etc.., without assistance, using proper lifting techniques.
  • Assist the Operations department in the setup and reconfiguration of the Arena Bowl seating systems during Arena seating conversions as required, including the Rodeo setup and strike. This includes the setup & strike of the South Rodeo Deck system and the Priefert Rodeo Stalls, Chutes and Pins.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual Engineering Operating budget and provide insight into the annual capital budget for long range repairs and improvements to the facility.
  • This position must be willing and able to work a flexible work week schedule, a minimum of 40 per week, which could/would include evenings, weekends and holidays as required and scheduled by the Chief Engineer.

Preferred Qualifications      
  • Minimum High School diploma or GED is required, with an Electrical Trade school diploma preferred. 
  • Must be a Licensed Journeyman Electrician with the required two-year degree or certificate in electrical courses, or four years of intensive experience under the supervision of a master electrician.
  • Must be knowledgeable with all applicable laws, electrical codes, ordinances, safety precautions, and emergency procedures related to facility management.
  • 8+ years of experience in electrical repair, maintenance or general construction
  • 4+ years in a supervisory/management capacity.
  • 4+ years’ experience operating, maintaining and repairing a Crestron Lighting Control/Dimming system or equivalent is preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical systems and electrical systems repairs
  • Experience and/or training in the public assembly facility management industry preferred.
  • Must have a state of Texas motor vehicle license
  • Keyboarding skills and computer proficiency with software knowledge including MS Office
  • Experience operating a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to be exposed to adverse weather conditions when required to work outside and/ or fluctuating temperatures.

Employee may occasionally be required due to business demands and event operations to lift and/or move
up to 75 pounds. As business, maintenance, operations or emergency situations require, employee may sporadically assist in lifting/moving 100 lbs. or more.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to work in outside weather conditions; however, the duties of this position are performed primarily indoors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, with the exception of event days, where the sound levels may be higher than moderate.  The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
